This week I spent 2 nights away from my family and went to London to do THE Jasmine Star workshop. For those of you who don’t know who Jasmine Star is, check out her blog you will see that she is gorgeous, intelligent, very talented and hugely American and married to JD, who quite simply seems to complete her. The first time I stopped by to look at her blog I was hooked – it is like reading an awesome magazine with the fashion exactly to your taste. I’ve only really known about her for a few months. I think it was when I was watching Photo Night Live and fellow wedding photographer Emma Case was talking about who inspired her, this made me google her and so it began.
Here is the lady of the moment below, showing us her secrets! Jasmine’s the one in green taking the pictures and yes she wears heals on shoots!

It seemed funny because everybody seemed like massive fans forever and there was me who had only just discovered her! So, why did I want to go on the course? I couldn’t miss an opportunity to meet and learn from a women who has shot to stardom (in the photography world) within 5 years, without paying for any marketing, simple really! The sassy Kat Williams, Rock n roll bride organised the workshop and actually persuaded Jasmine to fly over the pond from America. She really did an amazing job pulling everything together and I was very grateful.
Flowers were done by: Pollen Nation stunning hey!

I met up with Jasmine, JD (her adorable husband), Kat and the other 19 people on the workshop the night before the course – this was a great way to hit the ground running as I got to talk to most people. We met on the roof gardens of the Sanctum Soho Hotel in Soho, it was lush.
The workshop started early at One Marlebone, which is directly opposite Great Portland st tube in London. I have looked at this building before and wondered what it was used for – the interior is amazing think white walls, chandeliers and gorgeous arched windows with loads of natural light flowing in and it turns out they hire it out for events including Weddings – if any of you decide to get married here… pick me, pick me to photograph it!!!
I really wanted to capture this gorgeous staircase – beautiful hey?!

When the workshop started I immediately was hanging on every word Jasmine said, everything she said made so much sense… the funny thing is like most things it wasn’t anything I entirely didn’t know but it was learning her secret formula. Through out the day I wrote 14 pages of notes with at least 3 J*ism’s (thats a new word I just made up) per page that I’m going to incorporate into my business. She didn’t hold anything back, if we asked a question she answered it and some pretty bold questions were asked!
After lunch Dan and Rachel, a real life couple who got married a couple of months ago, had dressed up in their wedding attire, their hair was done by Severin Hubert of The Hepburn Collection and make up by the lovely Elbie Van Eeden. The couple looked fantastic and were so patient and willing. We spent just over an hour taking posing tips and watching Jasmine* in action.
Here are some more of the photos I captured – enjoy!
