Family Adventures Review: Hollow Trees Farm

Hello!  Welcome to the first of my “Friday Family adventure review’s”.  Every Friday I plan to review somewhere we have been as a family or just Sadie and I or with friends.  I’m hoping by posting this on Friday it will give you some fun ideas for the weekend.  If you’ve got some suggested places for us to visit please leave me a comment as I would love to hear your ideas and favourite places.  Baby number 2 is due in under 7 weeks and I know this time around it is going to be very different, I don’t think I will get the luxury of staying in for the first couple of weeks with a 2 year old who needs constant stimulation, hence the motivation behind this feature!

HOLLOW TREES FARM

Let me start by saying (and if your a regular reader of my blog you’ll already know this!) we love Jimmy’s farm and every farm we go to0 we compare… we shouldn’t but we do!  We have just got an annual pass we go there so much, so you’ll be seeing a post on Jimmy’s farm I reckon once a month!!!

Back to Hollow trees, so many people have recommended we make a visit.  I’m so glad we did!  On Wednesday Sadie and I meet our friends there.  For us the only down side is that it’s a good half an hour away, it’s just past Hadleigh .  The nature trail is free for kids under 3 which just meant that myself and my friend just had to pay, so very reasonable day out given that an adults pass is £1.50 and feed for the animals £0.40.

We saw Turkeys, birds, goats, pigs, chickens, baby pigs, cows and scare crow!  The kids had a fantastic time, Sadie particularly loved the feeding the goats.  The kids loved the old tractors they could play on as well as the wooden horses and crocodile.

After a good 2 hours I would say we headed back to the farm shop and decided to try the cafe.  The food and menu was fab.  It was very reasonably priced and very geared up for children.  Sadie had a ham children’s plate which she devoured and it was only £2.50… perfect!  I had a freshly made fruit smoothy and a jacket potato…yum yum!  All and all it was a brilliant day out and all for under a tenner.  I think as Sadie gets older she will outgrow the farm but over the next couple of years there is plenty to keep her amused and I would say we will be back even if it’s just to taste the home made cakes!!!
